Neighboring municipalities of Ferrières-les-Bois are Lantenne-Vertière and Corcelles-Ferrières in the north, Corcondray in the east, Saint-Vit in the south and Berthelange and Mercey-le-Grand in the west.
history
In the Middle Ages the area of Ferrières belonged to the cathedral chapter of Besançon. Together with Franche-Comté , the village finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. To avoid confusion with other communes of the same name, Ferrières was officially renamed Ferrières-les-Bois in 1922.
Attractions
Notre-Dame de la Nativité church was built around 1700 in the shape of a Latin cross . The current bell tower was added around 1830. Also noteworthy are the wash house from 1845 and the Fontaine-Ronde (from 1860). At the height south of the village stands the Notre-Dame de la Liberation chapel (built in 1944).

Economy and Infrastructure
Ferrières-les-Bois was a village dominated by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry until well into the 20th century. In addition, there are now various local small businesses. In the meantime, the village has also turned into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who work in the Besançon agglomeration.
The village is located away from the major thoroughfares on a departmental road that leads from Saint-Vit to Recologne . The closest connection to the A36 motorway , which crosses the municipality, is around 15 kilometers away. Further road connections exist with Berthelange and Pouilley-Français.
