Mairie Courchapon

Courchapon is a French municipality with 218 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

geography

Courchapon is located at an altitude of 202  m above sea level, four kilometers southwest of Marnay and about 21 kilometers west of the city of Besançon (as the crow flies). The village extends in the wide valley of the Ognon , on the northern edge of the hilly landscape between the valleys of Ognon and Doubs .

The area of the 5.31 km² municipal area covers a section of the lower Ognontal. The northern border runs along the Ognon, which flows here with numerous meanders through an approximately three-kilometer-wide valley floor to the west, or its left side stream Ruisseau du Moulin de Chazoy . At Courchapon, the Ognon receives its inflow from the stream that rises in the Source de la Roche . From the course of the Ognon river, the community area extends southwards over the alluvial plain , which is located at an average of 200 m and consists mainly of arable and meadow land. Further south, the terrain gradually rises to the crests of the gently undulating landscape between the Ognon and the Doubs. This area shows a loose structure of meadow and forest. At 332 m, the highest point in Courchapon is reached on the Vauboulon hill.

The neighboring municipalities of Courchapon are Chenevrey-et-Morogne in the north, Burgille in the east, Lantenne-Vertière , Étrabonne and Le Moutherot in the south and Jallerange in the west.

history

The municipality of Courchapon was settled very early. There are witnesses to the presence of man during the Magdalenian (late Paleolithic) and Neolithic. Archaeological finds are in the Archaeological Museum in Besançon.

Together with Franche-Comté , Courchapon finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. In 1972 Courchapon was incorporated into Jallerange together with Le Moutherot, but Courchapon got its independence back in 1981. Today Courchapon is a member of the Val Marnaysien municipal association .

Economy and Infrastructure

Until well into the 20th century, Courchapon was a village dominated by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry. In addition, there are now a number of local small businesses, including one each in the wood processing and cleaning industries. In the meantime, the village has also turned into a residential community. Many employed people are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area and in the Besançon agglomeration.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a department road that leads from Marnay to Thervay . The closest connection to the A36 motorway is around 15 kilometers away. Another road connection exists with Lantenne-Vertière.
