Cademène is a French commune with a population of 71 (as at 1st January 2017) in the Doubs department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Cademène is 409 m above sea level, about 15 kilometers south of the city of Besançon (as the crow flies). The farming village extends in the Jura , on a terrace around 100 m above the course of the Loue , on the eastern slope of the height of Épeugney.
The area of the 3.39 km² municipality covers a section of the stratified landscape of the western French Jura. The eastern border forms the Loue, which flows here in a winding course through an erosion valley deeply cut into the surrounding plateaus to the southwest. The slopes are criss-crossed by distinctive limestone walls in various places, including the Roches Chaillet below the village (with the cave system Grotte des Chaillets ). From the course of the river, the municipal area extends westward over the terrace of Cademène to the adjacent heights of Sur le Mouret and Croix des Echaulles . Here, at 515 m, the highest point in Cademène is reached.
Neighboring municipalities to Cademène are Épeugney in the north, Scey-Maisières and Cléron in the east, Amondans in the south and Rurey in the west.
history
The municipality of Cademène was settled very early. The earliest evidence goes back to the Bronze Age ; A tumulus originates from the Iron Age in which valuable earrings were found during excavations. Today, Cademène is a member of the Communauté de communes du Pays d'Ornans, comprising 24 localities .

Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Cademène was a village dominated by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding). Even today, the residents live mainly from their work in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector there are almost no jobs in the village. Some workers are also commuters who work in the surrounding larger towns.
The village is off the main thoroughfares, but is easily accessible from the D473 departmental road from Besançon to Levier .
