Mairie Lavans-Quingey |
Lavans-Quingey is French municipality with 191 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Lavans-Quingey is located at 265 m , near Quingey , about 20 kilometers southwest of the city of Besançon (as the crow flies). The village extends in the western Jura , east of the Loue in a valley widening between the heights of the Côte de Moini in the west and the Bois du Landet in the east.
The area of the 5.90 km² municipal area covers a section of the western French Jura. The area is limited to the west by the Loue. It flows here in a winding course to the south through a wide basin, which is framed by the extreme ridges of the Jura. From the course of the river, the community area extends eastward over the flat floodplain and the adjacent undulating hill foot zone, which is partly made up of meadow and partly of forest. In the far east, the area extends to the wooded ridge of the Bois du Landet , which is part of a Jura chain that stretches north from Mont Poupet to the loop of the Loue river. Here, at 521 m, Lavans-Quingey's highest point is reached.
Neighboring municipalities of Lavans-Quingey are Quingey and Cessey in the north, Palantine and Goux-sous-Landet in the east, Pessans in the south and Lombard in the west.
history
Since the Middle Ages Lavans belonged to the lordship and castellanei Quingey. Together with Franche-Comté , the village came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.

With 191 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) Lavans-Quingey is one of the small communities in the Doubs department. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (206 people were still counted in 1886), slight population growth has been recorded again since the beginning of the 1990s.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Lavans-Quingey was primarily a village characterized by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry. In addition, there are now some local small businesses. In the meantime, the village has also turned into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.
The village is well developed in terms of traffic. It is close to the main road N83 which leads from Besançon to Lons-le-Saunier . Another road connection exists with Pointvillers.
