Hyèvre-Paroisse is a French municipality with 191 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

Hyèvre-Paroisse is located at 275 m , six kilometers east-northeast of Baume-les-Dames and about 34 kilometers east-northeast of the city of Besançon (as the crow flies). The village extends in a valley widening of the Doubs on the right northern side of the river, in the extreme northwestern mountain ranges of the Jura , at the western foot of the Montagne du Chaillon.
The area of the 8.79 km² municipal area includes a section of the Doubstal. The Doubs flows here with several turns through a mostly 500 m wide flat floodplain to the west-south-west and at the same time forms the waterway of the Rhine-Rhône Canal . Before entering the widening of the Hyèvre-Paroisse valley, it passes the Jura ridge in a deeply cut, cliff-like breakthrough valley . The valley is flanked by steep slopes that show cliffs, caves and ledges in various places, including the Fauteuil de Gargantua west of the village. The course of the river always forms the southern border. In the western part, the communal soil comprises the sun-exposed northern slope of the valley with the Bois-la-Ville terrace. The northern border runs on the adjacent wooded ridge ( 548 m ) above Bois-la-Ville. To the northeast, the municipal area extends into a basin, which on its north side is covered by the limestone plateau of Voillans and on the south side by the wooded heights of the Jura ridge with Montagne du Chaillon (at 554 m the highest elevation in Hyèvre-Paroisse), Bois de Branne ( 525 m ) and Montfort (up to 520 m).
Hyèvre-Paroisse includes the hamlet Bois-la-Ville ( 380 m ) on a terrace on the northern slopes of the Doubs. Neighboring municipalities of Hyèvre-Paroisse are Voillans and L'Hôpital-Saint-Lieffroy in the north, Pays de Clerval with Clerval , Branne and Roche-lès-Clerval in the east, Hyèvre-Magny in the south and Baume-les-Dames in the west.
history
In the Middle Ages, Hyèvre belonged to the Clerval lordship, which came under the sovereignty of the Counts of Montbéliard in the 14th century. Together with Franche-Comté, the village finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. Until the time of the French Revolution , Hyèvre-Paroisse and Hyèvre-Magny formed a single municipality. The area changed in 1972 when the previously independent Bois-la-Ville merged with Hyèvre-Paroisse. Today Hyèvre-Paroisse is part of the Doubs Baumois municipal association .

With 191 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), Hyèvre-Paroisse is one of the small communities in the Doubs department. During the 20th century, the population was always between 180 and 250 people.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Hyèvre-Paroisse was mainly a village characterized by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry. In addition, there are now some local small businesses, particularly in the hospitality industry. In the meantime, the village has also turned into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.
The village is well developed in terms of traffic. It is on the main road N83, which leads from Besançon to Montbéliard . The closest connection to the A36 motorway is around ten kilometers away. Another road connection is with Hyèvre-Magny. Hyèvre-Paroisse has a station on the Dole – Besançon – Belfort railway line , but it is no longer served.
