Sébastien Puygrenier (born January 28, 1982 in Limoges ) is a former French football player .
Club career
Sébastien Puygrenier played in the youth teams of the French first division club Stade Rennes . There he was appointed to the first team in December 2001 by then coach Christian Gourcuff . He received his first professional contract about six months later, but only made his first division debut in 2003 in a 4-1 win over Olympique Lyon . After only two more missions, he was awarded at his own request to the second division AS Nancy . In their team, the defender was able to establish himself as a regular player and in 2005 celebrated promotion to Ligue 1 . Due to the French transfer regulations, he was prevented from continuing to play on loan, as Nancy now played in the same league as Stade Rennes. Because Puygrenier played no role in the planning of Rennes, he was finally sold to his former loan club. In 2006 he won the French League Cup with the club . In the 2-1 final win over OGC Nice , he was sent off after a yellow-red card.
In July 2008 he moved to the reigning Russian champions and UEFA Cup winners Zenit Saint Petersburg . With Zenit he won the UEFA Super Cup with a 2-1 victory over Manchester United . After six months in Russia, Puygrenier was awarded to the Bolton Wanderers in the English Premier League from January to June 2009 . In the 2009/10 season and again in 2010/11 he was awarded to AS Monaco . After the descent of the Monegasque in the summer of 2011, he returned to St. Petersburg. After he was no longer considered there, Puygrenier moved back to his old club AS Nancy in the French first division at the beginning of 2012. In the second year of 2012/13 he was the most dangerous player of his team as a central defender with seven goals, but could not prevent his team's relegation.
For the 2013/14 season moved to Turkey for first division club Kardemir Karabükspor . On matchday eight he saw the red card after an emergency brake during the 2-1 defeat against record champions Galatasaray Istanbul . He lost his previous place and was not used in any other game. He left Karabükspor after the season and was committed to AJ Auxerre from the French second division for the 2014/15 season . There Puygrenier was a regular player and team captain from the start. In 2016 he then moved to US Créteil , who had previously been relegated to the third division. After he managed to stay up with his club in the first year, he finished the 2017/18 season bottom of the table. Puygrenier ended his career at the age of 36.
