Glamondans is a French municipality with 217 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Glamondans is located at 397 m , about 19 kilometers east of the city of Besançon (as the crow flies). The clustered village extends in the Jura , in a hollow in the middle of the so-called first plateau, a wide basin between the heights of the Jura border chain (Côte) in the north and the heights of Gonsans in the south.
The area of the 9.76 km² municipal area covers a section of the French Jura. The area with little relief is taken up by the wide first Jura plateau, which averages 410 m. It forms a wide basin with no above-ground drainage. To the northwest of the village are the Guigot ponds. In the area of Glamondans, the plateau is predominantly made up of arable and meadow land. In the west, the communal soil extends into the wooded area of the Bois de Vuillorbe . To the south, the community area extends over a stepped terrain onto the adjacent plateau of Côtebrune, about 70 m higher. Here, at 482 m, the highest elevation of Glamondans is reached. The eastern boundary runs in the winding valley of the Audeux .
The hamlet of Vuillorbe ( 420 m ) in a hollow in the Bois de Vuillorbe belongs to Glamondans. Neighboring municipalities of Glamondans are Champlive and Dammartin-les-Templiers in the north, Aïssey in the east, Côtebrune and Gonsans in the south and Bouclans in the west.
history
The Vuillorbe priory was founded in the Middle Ages by monks from the Montbenoît monastery. Together with Franche-Comté , Glamondans came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. On October 14, 2015, a two-seat F / A-18D fighter aircraft belonging to the Swiss Air Force crashed into a field in the municipality. The machine was on a training flight in the joint training room EUC 25 of Switzerland and France. Several Swiss Army detachments were deployed on site to recover the wreckage and to restore the site of the impact.
Attractions
The village church of Sainte-Trinité (Holy Trinity) in Glamondans was built in the 18th century and has a rich interior . The former priory church is located in Vuillorbe.
Various farmhouses in the characteristic style of Franche-Comté from the 17th to 19th centuries have been preserved in the town center.

With 217 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), Glamondans is one of the small communities in the Doubs department. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (316 people were still counted in 1881), population growth has been recorded again since the beginning of the 1990s.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Glamondans was primarily a village characterized by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry. In addition, there are now some local small businesses, including wood processing. In the meantime, the village has also turned into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who work in the Besançon agglomeration.
The village is located away from the major thoroughfares on a department road that leads from Roulans to Gonsans. Further road connections exist with Aïssey and Dammartin-les-Templiers.
