Pouligney-Lusans is a French municipality with 850 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Doubs department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Pouligney-Lusans is located at 290 m , about 17 kilometers northeast of the city of Besançon (as the crow flies). The double municipality extends in the undulating landscape between the river valleys of Doubs and Ognon , in a hollow on the northern edge of the Bois des Perrières.
The area of the 11.60 km² large municipal area includes a section in the extreme northwestern mountain ranges of the Jura . The main part of the area is occupied by a wide basin, which is drained by a source stream of the Ruisseau de la Corcelle north to the Ognon. It is predominantly made up of arable and meadow land, partly also with forest. To the south, the municipal area extends into the extensive wooded area of the Bois des Perrières , which forms the eastern continuation of the Bois de Sassy ridge . To the north, the municipality extends over the plateau, which is subdivided by various short side valleys of the Ruisseau de la Corcelle, up to the ridge of the Bois de la Côte du Mont . Here the highest point of Pouligney-Lusans is reached with 453 m.
The double municipality consists of the districts of Pouligney ( 290 m ) on the northern edge of the Bois des Perrières and Lusans ( 295 m ) in a hollow at the southwest foot of the Bois de la Côte du Mont.Nearby communities of Pouligney-Lusans are La Tour-de-Sçay in the north , Villers-Grélot , Le Puy and Vennans in the east, Roulans and Deluz in the south and Amagney , Châtillon-Guyotte , Marchaux-Chaudefontaine and Corcelle-Mieslot in the west.
history
Pouligney and Lusans were first mentioned in documents in 1260. In the Middle Ages, the villages were under the dominion of Montfaucon . Together with Franche-Comté , both villages came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. The merger of Pouligney and Lusans to what is now the dual community was completed in 1972.
Attractions
The Saint-Étienne church in Pouligney was built between 1767 and 1769. With the Ludale-Parc, Pouligney-Lusans has an amusement park with three labyrinths in a corn field.

With 850 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), Pouligney-Lusans is one of the small communities in the Doubs department. After the population had steadily decreased in the first half of the 20th century (448 people were still counted in 1881), there has been significant population growth again since the early 1970s. Since then, the population has almost tripled.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Pouligney-Lusans was primarily a village characterized by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry. Today there are also various local small business and retail businesses. In the meantime, the village has also turned into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who go to work in the Besançon agglomeration.
The village is well developed in terms of traffic. Pouligney is on a departmental road that leads from Roulans to Chaudefontaine. The nearest connection to the A36 motorway , which crosses the municipality, is approximately seven kilometers away. There are other road connections with Le Puy and Vennans.
