Lavans-Vuillafans is a French municipality with 238 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Lavans-Vuillafans is located 625 m above sea level, eight kilometers east-southeast of Ornans and about 23 kilometers southeast of the city of Besançon (as the crow flies). The village extends in the Jura , to the west of the Valdahon plateau on the edge of the Bois de la Bouhard , north of the Loue valley .
The area of the 10.16 km² municipal area covers a section of the French Jura. The entire area is occupied by the high plateau of Valdahon, which is an average of 650 m. It is mainly made up of arable and meadow land, partly also of forest and gradually rises towards the east. The plateau has no above-ground watercourses because the rainwater seeps into the karstified subsoil. At 767 m, the highest point of Lavans-Vuillafans is reached on a knoll south of the Bois de Bouhard . The community area extends to the southeast up to the Signal de Cudrey ( 747 m ), opposite the Roche de Hautepierre rock . In the west, the area extends to the edge of the erosion valley of the Ruisseau de Vaux (right tributary of the Loue).

Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Lavans-Vuillafans was primarily a village characterized by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding). In addition, there are now some local small businesses. In the meantime, the village has also turned into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.
The village is located away from the major thoroughfares on the D27, which leads from Valdahon to Vuillafans. Further road connections exist with Durnes and Athose.
