The canton of Ornans is a French canton in the department of Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It includes 62 communities from the arrondissements of Besançon and Pontarlier , its main town (French:  bureau centralisateur ) is Ornans . As part of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons, it was significantly expanded in spring 2015.

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Ornans included the 26 municipalities of Amathay-Vésigneux , Bonnevaux-le-Prieuré , Chantrans , Charbonnières-les-Sapins , Chassagne-Saint-Denis , Châteauvieux-les-Fossés , Durnes , Échevannes , Foucherans , Guyans-Durnes , Lavans-Vuillafans , Lods , L'Hôpital-du-Grosbois , Longeville , Malbrans , Mérey-sous-Montrond , Montgesoye , Mouthier-Haute-Pierre , Ornans , Saules , Scey-Maisières , Tarcenay , Trépot , Villers-sous-Montrond , Voires and Vuillafans . Its layout corresponded to an area of ​​260.21 km ² . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 2518.
