Déservillers is a French municipality with 339 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

geography

Déservillers is located at 699  m above sea level, about 13 kilometers south-southwest of Ornans and 26 kilometers south of the city of Besançon (as the crow flies). The village extends in the Jura , on a slope inclined to the north above the Amancey plateau , which extends between the valleys of Loue and Lison .

The area of ​​the 13.88 km² municipal area covers a section of the French Jura. The northern part of the area is taken up by the Amancey plateau, which is an average of 630 m and consists mainly of meadows. To the south, the community area extends over the slope of Déservillers to a wide ridge that forms an anticline in geological and tectonic terms and is oriented towards west-southwest-east-northeast in accordance with the direction of the Jura in this region. The highest point of Déservillers is reached here at 870 m. The ridge is divided by two erosion valleys. However, both streams seep away as soon as they step out onto the Amancey plateau. The subsoil of the area is karstified . There are several caves, including the Grotte des Crêtes and the Grotte de Jérusalem .

Neighboring municipalities of Déservillers are Amancey in the north, Bolandoz in the east, Labergement-du-Navois in the south and Montmahoux and Éternoz in the west.

Déservillers: Church of Sainte-Agathe

Remains of a Gallo-Roman country estate indicate an early settlement of the municipality of Déservillers. In the 12th century Déservillers belonged to the Scey lordship and to Montmahoux in the 13th century. After that it formed a castlane under the lords of Ornans until the 16th century . Together with Franche-Comté , the village came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. A cheese dairy in Déservillers is mentioned as early as 1273 . That is why the place is also considered the cradle of Comté . Déservillers has been a member of the Loue-Lison community association since 1993 .

Attractions

The Sainte-Agathe church was built in 1730 on the site of a previous building. The bell tower and portal area from the 15th century were taken over from the earlier church . Three village fountains date from the 19th century. In the old town center, numerous farmhouses in the characteristic style of the Haut-Doubs from the 17th to 19th centuries have been preserved.

With 339 inhabitants (January 1, 2017) Déservillers is one of the small communities in the Doubs department. After the population had decreased markedly in the first half of the 20th century (581 people were still counted in 1881), only slight fluctuations have been recorded since the early 1970s.

Economy and Infrastructure

Until well into the 20th century, Déservillers was mainly a village characterized by agriculture (arable farming, cattle breeding) and forestry. In addition, there are now a number of local small businesses, including companies in the construction, information technology and wood processing industries. In the meantime, the village has also turned into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on the D473 departmental road, which leads from Besançon to Levier . Other road connections exist with Ornans, Nans-sous-Sainte-Anne and Montmahoux.
