geography
Tressandans is located at an altitude of 263 m above sea level, three kilometers northwest of Rougemont and about 33 kilometers west of the city of Montbéliard (as the crow flies). The area of the 2.34 km² municipal area covers a section of the central Ognontal. The western and northern borders run along the Ognon, which flows here with several turns through a wide valley. From the course of the river, the community area extends southeast over the alluvial plain to the adjacent high terrace , which is partly wooded, partly with arable land and meadow. At 295 m, the highest point in Tressandans is reached in the Bois de la Corne forest .
Neighboring communities of Tressandans are Chassey-lès-Montbozon and Bonnal in the north, Rougemont in the east and south and Thieffrans in the west.
history
The municipality of Tressandans was populated very early. There was a prehistoric rampart in the Chatey corridor. In the Middle Ages Tressandans was under the rule of Rougemont. Together with Franche-Comté , the village came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.
Attractions
The lavoir in Tressandans (wash house and cattle trough) dates from 1883. A stone bridge from the 19th century leads over the Ognon.

With 23 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) Tressandans is one of the smallest communities in the Doubs department. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (84 people were still counted in 1906), only minor fluctuations have been recorded since the mid-1970s.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Tressandans was primarily a village characterized by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry. Even today, the residents live mainly from their work in the first sector. Outside the primary sector there are few jobs in the village. Some workers are also commuters who work in the surrounding larger towns.
The village is located off the main thoroughfares on a departmental road that leads from Rougemont to Thieffrans. Further road connections exist with Bonnal and Montferney.
