Economy and Infrastructure

Until well into the 20th century, Serre-les-Sapins was a village dominated by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry. Since the mid-1970s, an industrial and commercial zone has been set up on the outskirts. The important industries include plastics processing and civil engineering as well as a moving company. There are also numerous retail establishments. In the meantime, the village has also turned into a residential community. Many workers are therefore also commuters who work in the Besançon agglomeration.

The village is well developed in terms of traffic. It is located on a departmental road that leads from Pouilley-les-Vignes to Chemaudin . The closest connection to the A36 motorway is around 4 km away. Another road connection is with Avanne-Aveney.
