history
Champvans is first mentioned in a document in 1283 under the name Chanvanz . In the Middle Ages, the village belonged to the cathedral chapter of Besançon, but came under the rule of Audeux through purchase in the 17th century. Champvans was badly affected during the Thirty Years War . Together with Franche-Comté , the village finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. Champvans does not own a church; the first school was established in 1842. To avoid confusion with other commune of the same name, Champvans was officially renamed Champvans-les-Moulins in 1936.
