With 630 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), Busy is one of the small communities in the Doubs department. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (in 1901 there were still 328 people), there has been significant population growth again since the early 1960s. Since then the number of inhabitants has more than doubled.

Economy and Infrastructure

Until well into the 20th century, Busy was mainly a village characterized by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and dairy farming). In addition, there are now some local small businesses. In the meantime, the village has also turned into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.

The village is well developed in terms of traffic. It is close to the main road N83 which leads from Besançon to Lons-le-Saunier . Further road connections exist with Fontain, Chenecey-Buillon and Boussières.
