Monte Limbara

The Monte Limbara is the highest mountain massif in northern Sardinia . The two bare granite peaks Punta Balistreri ( 1363  m ) and Punta sa Berritta ( 1359  m ) can be seen from afar. The slopes of the Monte Limbara massif are forested with chestnuts , pedunculate oaks , pines , pines and firs almost to the top .

Development

A road leads to the summit region. Hiking trails open up the northern slopes of Monte Limbara. There are parking spaces for hikers just below the summit by a chapel and at around 1050 meters. The viewing platform houses the meter-high black statue of the Madonna delle Neve . The figure points to the north, numerous locals and tourists lay down gifts of thanks and petitions here. To the east of the summit there is an Italian broadcasting facility and an abandoned NATO military facility .

outlook

From the peaks the view extends over the whole of northern Sardinia, when the weather is clear Corsica can be seen. Tempio Pausania and Aggius are easily recognizable as the closest villages.
