Reugney is a French municipality with 305 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Reugney is 697 m above sea level, about ten kilometers south of Ornans and 26 kilometers south-southeast of the city of Besançon (as the crow flies). The village extends in the Jura , in a hollow on the southern edge of the Amancey plateau, at the northern foot of the Tan.
The area of the 8.19 km² municipal area covers a section of the French Jura. The northern part of the area is taken up by the undulating plateau of the Amancey plateau, which is 680 m on average and consists mainly of meadows. To the south, the community area extends over a steep wooded slope onto the broad ridge of the Tan , which forms an anticline in geological and tectonic terms and is oriented towards west-south-west-east-north-east in accordance with the direction of the Jura in this region. Reugney's highest point is reached here at 911 m. The western border runs in the erosion basin of the Val du Bas des Mais north of the Malvaux . However, the stream seeps away as soon as it steps out onto the Amancey plateau. Otherwise, the entire area has no surface watercourses because the rainwater seeps into the karstified subsoil.
Neighboring communities of Reugney are Silley-Amancey and Chantrans in the north, Amathay-Vésigneux in the east, Levier in the south and Bolandoz in the west.
history
Reugney was first mentioned in a document in 945 under the name Villa Rudiniacus . Reugney was part of the Maillot reign since the Middle Ages. Together with Franche-Comté , the village came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. Today Reugney is a member of the Loue-Lison Community .
Attractions
The village church of Saint-Martin in Reugney was built in the 19th century in neo -Gothic style and has a bronze baptismal font from the 15th century. The Saint-Joseph chapel was built in 1861. The manor house of Maillot and numerous farmhouses in the characteristic style of the Haut-Doubs from the 17th to 19th centuries have been preserved.

With 305 inhabitants (January 1, 2017) Reugney is one of the small communities in the Doubs department. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (340 people were still counted in 1886), the population has continued to grow steadily since the beginning of the 1990s.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Reugney was a village dominated by agriculture, especially dairy farming and cattle breeding, as well as forestry. In addition, there are now a few local small-scale businesses, including a sawmill and some craft businesses. In the meantime, the village has also turned into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.
The village is located off the main thoroughfares on a departmental road that leads from Amancey to Lods . Another road connection is with Silley-Amancey.
