Since the time of the French Revolution , Lantenne and Vertière formed a double community. Today Lantenne-Vertière is a member of the Val Marnaysien municipal association .

Economy and Infrastructure

Until well into the 20th century, Lantenne-Vertière was a village dominated by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding). In addition, there are now some local small-scale businesses, including mechanical workshops and a cheese dairy. The most important employer, however, is the Koramic Tuiles brickworks. In the meantime, the village has also turned into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who work in the Besançon agglomeration.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a department road that leads from Chemaudin to Jallerange . The closest connection to the A36 motorway is around eleven kilometers away. Other road connections exist with Mercey-le-Grand, Burgille and Lavernay.
