The Canton Pierrefontaine-les-Varans was 2015 a French canton in the department of Doubs and in the former region of Franche-Comte . It included 20 parishes in the Arrondissement of Pontarlier ; his main town (French: chef-lieu ) was Pierrefontaine-les-Varans . The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons resulted in its dissolution in March 2015. Representatives in the conseil général of the department was most recently from 1992 to 2015, Jean-Marie Pobelle.
On January 1, 2009, the canton was detached from the Arrondissement Besançon and incorporated into the Arrondissement Pontarlier .
