Pays de Clerval is a former French commune with 1,104 inhabitants (2014) in the Doubs department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belonged to the canton of Bavans in the arrondissement of Montbéliard .
The municipality was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2017, when the previous municipalities of Clerval and Santoche were merged by a decree of August 9, 2016. The former municipalities were not granted the status of Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The municipal administration was in Clerval.
With effect from January 1, 2019, the former Commune nouvelle was merged with the municipality of Chaux-lès-Clerval to form the new Commune nouvelle Pays-de-Clerval (spelling with hyphens) , which has almost the same name . Only Chaux-lès-Clerval has the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are located in Clerval.

Pays de Cerval was located on a bend in the Doubs , about 35 kilometers southwest of the sub-prefecture of Montbéliard and a good 50 kilometers northeast of Besançon , the seat of the prefecture of the Doubs department. The old town center was on the left bank, newer building areas and the district of Santoche on the right bank.
