Pays-de-Clerval is a French commune with 1,229 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Doubs department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the canton of Bavans in the arrondissement of Montbéliard . Furthermore, the municipality is the main town ( chief lieu ) of the communauté de communes des Deux Vallées Vertes, which was newly formed on January 1, 2017 .
The municipality was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2019, by merging the former Commune nouvelle Pays de Clerval with the previous municipality of Chaux-lès-Clerval to form the Commune nouvelle Pays-de-Clerval (spelling with hyphens). Chaux-lès-Clerval has the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The municipal administration is located in Clerval.

Pays-de-Clerval is located on a bend in the Doubs , about 35 kilometers southwest of the sub-prefecture of Montbéliard and a good 50 kilometers northeast of Besançon , the seat of the prefecture of the Doubs department. The old town center is on the left bank, newer building areas and the district of Santoche on the right bank.

Attractions
The dolmens of Santoche are about 5000 years old megaliths in the district of Santoche. They are classified as a historic monument ( Monument historique ).
traffic
Pays-de-Clerval has a train station on the Dole – Belfort line . Trains run by the TER Bourgogne Franche-Comté public transport company in the direction of Belfort or Besançon stop at it several times a day . The A 36 motorway (La Comtoise) runs from Beaune to Mulhouse through the northern municipal area .
