Rahon is a French municipality with 126 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Rahon is located at 540 m , three kilometers north of Sancey-le-Grand and about 26 kilometers southwest of the city of Montbéliard (as the crow flies). The former street village extends in the Jura , in the northern part of the basin of Sancey (Vallon de Sancey), at the western foot of the high plateau of Belvoir and south of the Lomont chain .
The area of the municipality of 5.69 km² covers a section of the French Jura. The central part of the area is occupied by the basin of Sancey, which forms a plain about 2 km wide and averages 540 m. It is mostly made up of arable and meadow land. The eastern boundary runs partly at the foot and partly on the slope of Mont de Belvoir. To the west, the municipality extends to the heights of Orve ( 640 m ) and Bois de Fayts , on which the highest point of Rahon is reached at 671 m. In between there is a valley furrow without surface running water, which leads to the Chazot depression in the west.
The neighboring municipalities of Rahon are Vellerot-lès-Belvoir in the north, Belvoir in the east, Sancey with Sancey-le-Long in the south and Orve in the west.
history
In the Middle Ages Rahon was part of the Belvoir domain. Together with Franche-Comté , the village came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.
Attractions
The chapel of the Blessed Virgin, built in 1945, is sheltered by nine linden trees that were planted in 1809. The manor house northwest of the village dates from the 15th and 16th centuries.

Economy and Infrastructure
Rahon was a village dominated by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) well into the 20th century. In addition, there are now some local small businesses. Many workers are also commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.
The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a departmental road that leads from Sancey-le-Grand to L'Isle-sur-le-Doubs . Another road connection is with Belvoir.
