Ferrières-le-Lac is a French municipality with 172 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Ferrières-le-Lac is located at 805 m , seven kilometers east-northeast of Maîche and about 28 kilometers south of the city of Montbéliard (as the crow flies). The village extends in the Jura , in the northeast of the extensive high plateau of Maîche, at the west foot of the height of Belfays.
The area of the 2.47 km² municipal area covers a section of the French Jura. The main part of the area is occupied by the low relief high plateau of Maîche, which is on average at 800 m. It consists mainly of meadow and pasture land. The plateau has no above-ground watercourses because the rainwater seeps into the karstified subsoil. To the north, the municipality extends to the Sarmin forest height . To the east, the municipality extends over the wooded ridge of the Bois sous Belfays , on which the highest elevation of Ferrières-le-Lac is reached at 910 m, as far as the Sous les Rochers basin .
Neighboring communities of Ferrières-le-Lac are Trévillers in the north, Fessevillers in the east, Belfays in the south and Damprichard in the west.
history
In the Middle Ages, Ferrières was part of the domain of Maîche. Together with Franche-Comté , the village came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. To avoid confusion with other municipalities of the same name, Ferrières was officially renamed Ferrières-le-Lac in 1923.
Attractions
