geography
Crosey-le-Grand is located at 555 m , eight kilometers northwest of Sancey-le-Grand and about 28 kilometers southwest of the city of Montbéliard (as the crow flies). The village extends in the Jura , in a panoramic position on a high plateau at the southern foot of the Lomont chain , south of the Doube valley .
The area of the 10.28 km² large municipality covers a section of the French Jura. The central part of the area is taken up by the Crosey plateau, which averages 540 m and slopes slightly to the south. This area is mainly made up of arable and meadow land, but also shows some forest areas. The high plateau is subdivided by several dry valleys . These run south and flow into a valley furrow, which topographically belongs to the catchment area of the Cusancin .
To the north, the community area extends over a steep slope to the ridge of the Lomont range. From a geological and tectonic point of view, this ridge forms an anticline of the Jura folds and is oriented in a west-east direction in accordance with the direction of strike of the mountains in this region. It separates the Crosey plateau from the Doubstal to the north. At 688 m, the highest point of Crosey-le-Grand is reached on the ridge.
Neighboring municipalities of Crosey-le-Grand are Chaux-lès-Clerval and Anteuil in the north, Orve and Chazot in the east, Vellevans in the south and Crosey-le-Petit in the west.
history
In the Middle Ages, Crosey-le-Grand was the center of a small lordship. Together with Franche-Comté , the village came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.

The Saint-Étienne church has components from different eras. The choir dates from the 16th century, while the nave was renewed in the 18th century. The church has rich furnishings , mostly from the Baroque period , including the main altar and tabernacle from the 18th century.
Various farmhouses in the traditional Franche-Comté style from the 17th to 19th centuries have been preserved in the town center. The Sainte-Anne chapel is located at the height of the Lomont chain.

Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Crosey-le-Grand was a village dominated by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry. In addition, there are now a few local small businesses as well as a construction company and a large sawmill. Some workers are also commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.
The village is off the main thoroughfares on a departmental road that leads from Baume-les-Dames to the Col de Ferrière. Other road connections exist with Chazot and Vellevans.
