Frambouhans is a French municipality with 904 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Frambouhans is located at 865 m , four kilometers southwest of Maîche and about 14 kilometers north of the city of La Chaux-de-Fonds (as the crow flies). The village extends in the Jura , in the middle of the wide high plateau of Maîche, at the eastern foot of the ridge of the Vieux Ban.
The area of the 10.10 km² municipal area covers a section of the French Jura. The entire area is taken up by the low relief high plateau of Maîche, which averages 880 m. It is mainly made up of meadow and pasture land, but also shows some larger forest areas, especially the Grand Bois in the east. The plateau has no above-ground watercourses because the rainwater seeps into the karstified subsoil. There are several sinkholes on the parish grounds . To the west, the community area extends over the ridge of the Vieux Ban , on which the highest point of Frambouhans is reached at 960 m.
In addition to the actual village, Frambouhans also includes various hamlets and numerous individual farms, including:
- Les Pontots ( 860 m ) on the plateau on the southern outskirts
- Le Crotot ( 880 m ) on the Maîche plateau
Neighboring communities of Frambouhans are Maîche in the north, Les Écorces in the east, Fournet-Blancheroche in the south and Bonnétage and Saint-Julien-lès-Russey in the west.
history
In the Middle Ages Frambouhans belonged to the Maîche rule. Together with Franche-Comté , the village came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.

Economy and Infrastructure
Until the 20th century, Frambouhans was predominantly a village characterized by agriculture (cattle breeding and dairy farming) and forestry. In addition, there are now various small and medium-sized businesses, mainly in the construction, micromechanics, watchmaking and tool manufacturing sectors. Many workers are also commuters who work in the surrounding larger towns.
The village is well developed in terms of traffic. It is located on the main road D437, which leads from Montbéliard via Maîche to Morteau . Other road links exist with Charquemont, Fournet-Blancheroche and Saint-Julien-lès-Russey.
