Sancey is a French commune with 1,332 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the canton of Bavans in the arrondissement of Montbéliard . It was created as Commune nouvelle by a decree of September 23, 2015 with effect from January 1, 2016, by merging the previous municipalities of Sancey-le-Grand and Sancey-le-Long . Neighboring communities are Orve and Rahon in the north, Belvoir in the northeast, Provenchère in the east, Surmont in the southeast, Laviron in the south, Landresse in the southwest, Ouvans , Vellevans and Randevillers in the west and Chazot in the northwest.
