Mairie Valonne |
Valonne is a French municipality with 244 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Valonne is at 540 m , ten kilometers west-southwest of Pont-de-Roide-Vermondans and about 21 kilometers south-southwest of the city of Montbéliard (beeline). The village extends in the Jura , at the southern foot of the Lomont range , on a plateau sloping slightly to the south above the Barbèche valley.
The area of the 8.33 km² large municipality covers a section of the French Jura. The main part of the area is taken up by the Valonne plateau, which averages 540 m. This area is mostly made up of arable and meadow land. In the south, a 50 to 70 m high step leads to the valley furrow of the Barbèche (left tributary of the Doubs ). The southern municipal boundary runs in this valley. To the north, the community area extends over a relatively steep, wooded slope up to the ridge of the Lomont chain. From a geological and tectonic point of view, this ridge forms an anticline of the Jura folds and is oriented in a west-east direction. The highest point in Valonne is reached here at 810 m.
Neighboring municipalities of Valonne are Dambelin in the north, Solemont in the east, Péseux and Rosières-sur-Barbèche in the south and Vernois-lès-Belvoir and Vyt-lès-Belvoir in the west.
history
In the Middle Ages, Valonne belonged to the domain of the von Neuchâtel family . Then the village came under the rule of Belvoir and finally that of Rougemont (until the French Revolution ). Together with Franche-Comté , Valonne came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.
Attractions
The village church of Saint-Isidore was built from 1823 to 1828 on the site of a late medieval chapel.

With 244 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), Valonne is one of the small communities in the Doubs department. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (in 1901 there were still 269 people), population growth has been recorded again since the mid-1970s.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Valonne was a village dominated by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding). In addition, there are now some local small businesses, including those in the transport industry and the construction of agricultural machinery. Many workers are also commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.
The village is off the main thoroughfares on a departmental road that leads from Sancey-le-Grand to Noirefontaine . Another road connection is with Vernois-lès-Belvoir.
