Mairie Mancenans-Lizerne

Mancenans-Lizerne is a French municipality with 192 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

geography

Mancenans-Lizerne is located at 720  m , two kilometers northwest of Maîche and about 30 kilometers south of the city of Montbéliard (as the crow flies). The village extends in the Jura , on a terrace on the edge of the high plateau of Maîche, above the deep valley of the Dessoubre .

The area of the 6.09 km² large municipality covers a section of the French Jura. The main part of the area is taken up by the terraces of Mancenans and Lizerne, which are located at around 720 m. They are separated from each other by a valley cut in a side stream of the Dessoubre. Below the village, this valley sinks rapidly into the terrain and then forms a deep erosion channel (Vallée du Waroly), which opens towards the Dessoubre. To the southeast, the community area extends to the hill of the Vieux-Château ( 837  m ), the castle hill of Maîche. In the south the area stretches up the slopes of the Faux Verger , where the highest point of Mancenans-Lizerne is reached at 920 m.

The community consists of the two districts of Mancenans ( 720  m ) on the northwest slope of the Vieux-Château and La Lizerne ( 740  m ) on a terrace north of the Faux Verger. Neighboring communities of Mancenans-Lizerne are Les Bréseux in the north, Maîche in the east and south and Mont-de-Vougney and Orgeans-Blanchefontaine in the west.

history

In the Middle Ages, Mancenans and La Lizerne belonged to the domain of Maîche. Together with Franche-Comté , the villages came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. Since the time of the French Revolution , Mancenans and La Lizerne formed a community called Mancenans. Until 1922 the town was officially to help distinguish from Mancenans renamed Mancenans-Lizerne.

Economy and Infrastructure

Mancenans-Lizerne was a village dominated by agriculture (cattle and dairy farming, some arable farming) well into the 20th century. Even today, the residents live mainly from their work in the first sector. Outside the primary sector there are few jobs in the village. Some workers are also commuters who work in the surrounding larger towns.

The village is away from the major thoroughfares, but can be easily reached from Maîche. Other road connections exist with Vaucluse , Mont-de-Vougney and Les Bréseux.
