Source du Dessoubre

The Dessoubre rises in the Jura Mountains , in the Cirque de Consolation rock basin , in the municipality of Consolation-Maisonnettes just above the village. It has two short spring streams that flow from four karst springs .

The Dessoubre itself rises from the main source Source du Dessoubre , the right source stream Lançot from the partly intermittent sources Source Noire , Source du Tabourot and Source du Lançot . In Consolation-Maisonnettes, the approximately one kilometer long Lançot flows into the somewhat shorter Dessoubre. The main Dessoubre spring is located above a hotel, where the spring water rises from a crack in a high rock wall and then falls down a small waterfall .

From there, the Dessoubre runs with many bends through a valley cut around 300 meters deep into the Jura, overcoming numerous waterfalls and taking in its largest tributary, the Reverotte, in Gigot, which belongs to Plaimbois-du-Miroir . In Saint-Hippolyte the Dessoubre flows into the Doubs as a left tributary .
