Mairie Thiébouhans

Thiébouhans is a French municipality with 256 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

geography

Thiébouhans is located at 805  m , five kilometers northeast of Maîche and about 26 kilometers south of the city of Montbéliard (as the crow flies). The village extends in the Jura , in the north-east of the extensive high plateau of Maîche, at the south foot of the Bois des Côtards.

The area of the 5.81 km² large municipality covers a section of the French Jura. The main part of the area is occupied by the low relief high plateau of Maîche, which is on average at 800 m. It consists mainly of meadow and pasture land. The plateau has no above-ground watercourses because the rainwater seeps into the karstified subsoil. In the north, the municipal soil extends to the ridge of the Bois des Côtards ( 883  m ). To the southwest, the municipality extends over the wooded heights of Bois des Tranchots and Bois du Roi to the ridge of Mont Miroir , on which the highest elevation of Thiébouhans is reached at 970 m.

Thiébouhans includes the hamlet of La Cité ( 801  m ) at the northeast foot of Mont Miroir as well as numerous farms. Neighboring communities of Thiébouhans are Montandon in the north, Trévillers in the east, Damprichard , Cernay-l'Église and Maîche in the south and Les Bréseux in the west.

history

In the Middle Ages, Thiébouhans was part of the county of La Roche de Saint-Hippolyte. Together with Franche-Comté , the village came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.

Economy and Infrastructure

Until well into the 20th century, Thiébouhans was a village dominated by agriculture (cattle breeding and dairy farming) and forestry. In addition, there are now some small businesses, mainly in wood processing. Many workers are also commuters who work in the surrounding larger towns.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a departmental road that leads from Maîche to Trévillers. Further road connections exist with Damprichard and Montandon.
