Ewald Christophers

Ewald Christophers (born June 19, 1922 in Aurich ; † July 17, 2003 ibid) was a German reporter and author who spoke and wrote in the Low German language .

Life

During the Second World War , Christophers worked as a radio operator on the Eastern Front for almost three years . He then studied at the Hanover University of Education . From 1948 he worked as a teacher in Aurich- Tannenhausen and from 1959 in Aurich- Sandhorst .

Christophers became known in northern Germany as a Low German author and regional reporter for the North German Broadcasting Corporation ( NDR ). He presented his stories in numerous public events and thus contributed to the maintenance and acceptance of the Low German language. For many decades he has accompanied people in his unmistakable way in the language of their home country on radio and television. He was a reporter, writer, storyteller, presenter, radio play, stage and book author and even a filmmaker.

He has been awarded several prizes for his tireless and successful work.

Ewald Christophers died on July 17th, 2003 at the age of 81.
