It is accompanied on the north side by the height of Montmiale (530 m), on the south side by the plateau of Randevillers. At 641 m, the highest point of Chazot is reached on a ridge southeast of the village. With a narrow tip, the community area extends north over the gradually rising plateau of Crosey (540 m) to the foot of the Lomont range.
Neighboring municipalities of Chazot are Crosey-le-Grand in the north, Orve in the east, Sancey with the Commune déléguée Sancey-le-Grand and Randevillers in the south and Vellevans in the west.

With 120 inhabitants (January 1, 2017), Chazot is one of the smallest municipalities in the Doubs department. After the population had decreased markedly in the first half of the 20th century (289 people were still counted in 1881), only minor fluctuations have been recorded since the mid-1970s.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Chazot was mainly a village characterized by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry. Outside the primary sector there are few jobs in the village. Some workers are also commuters who work in the surrounding larger towns.
The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a departmental road that leads from L'Isle-sur-le-Doubs to Vellevans. Other road connections exist with Sancey-le-Grand and Crosey-le-Grand.
