The Conflictus ( Latin conflictus "clash [of opinions]") is a type of Medieval Latin controversial poem that was cultivated in the early Middle Ages . His meter was a vagante line or a hexameter .

The subjects of the poems, e.g. B. from Alkuins Conflictus veris et hiemis (8th century), a debate between spring and winter, became popular literary models in later times. Conflictūs were generally valued as exercises in rhetorical training to sharpen the mind and train reasoning.
