It is drained northeast to the Ruisseau de Vy-le-Ferroux by the Ruisseau de Noidans , which is dammed up below the village to form a 3-hectare pond. The Noidans basin is slightly sunk into the surrounding plateau, which averages 250 m. This plateau consists of sandy-marly sediments of the Tertiary in the southern part , while calcareous rocks from the upper Jurassic period come to the north of the place . The fertile soils are mainly used for agriculture. On the municipal boundary there are larger forest areas: in the east of the Bois de la Baronne , in the south of the Bois du Bouillon and in the north-west of the Bois des Fougères , where the highest point of Noidans-le-Ferroux is reached at 267 m.
Neighboring communities of Noidans-le-Ferroux are Vy-le-Ferroux in the north, Raze and Rosey in the east, Neuvelle-lès-la-Charité and Le Pont-de-Planches in the south, and Vezet and Soing-Cubry-Charentenay in the west.
history
In the Middle Ages Noidans belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in it to the area of the Bailliage d'Amont . The local aristocratic family, which is documented in the 12th century, died out in 1524. Together with the Franche-Comté , Noidans finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. Iron ore was mined in the vicinity of Noidans from the 12th century to the end of the 19th century. Today, Noidans-le-Ferroux is a member of the Communauté de communes des Combes, which comprises 22 villages .

Noidans-le-Ferroux reached its highest level in terms of population around 1850 with just under 1000 people. Economy and Infrastructure
Noidans-le-Ferroux was early on a village dominated by the iron processing industry. Today there are numerous small and medium-sized businesses. The metal processing, precision mechanics and transport industries are still important. In 2006, the Center de Valorisation des Déchets, a waste sorting and incineration plant, was opened. In the last few decades the village has also turned into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who go to work in the Vesoul agglomeration.
For a number of years, Noidans-le-Ferroux has also focused on green tourism. A water and leisure sports center with a swimming pool, tennis courts and boat rental as well as an 18-hole swing golf course was built on the parish pond , where the 2008 French championships were held.
The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a departmental road that leads from Vesoul to Fresne-Saint-Mamès . Other road connections exist with Fretigney-et-Velloreille , Le Pont-de-Planches, Fédry and Traves . Noidans-le-Ferroux has a train station on the now disused railway line from Vesoul to Gray.
