Mairie Aisey-et-Richecourt

Aisey-et-Richecourt is a municipality in the French department of Haute-Saône in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

geography

Aisey-et-Richecourt is located at an altitude of 258 m above sea level, eight kilometers north-northeast of Jussey and about 34 kilometers north-northwest of the city of Vesoul (as the crow flies). The village extends in the north-western part of the department, on a terrace between the valleys of Saône and Ruisseau des Vaux , at the southern foot of the hills of the Bois Saint-Julien .

The area of the 7.80 km² municipal area includes a section in the area of the upper Saône valley. The eastern border mostly runs along the Saône, which flows here through an alluvial lowland around 1.5 kilometers wide to the southwest. The floodplain lies at an average of 218 m and is mainly used for agriculture. The river is canalised and turned into a waterway; there is a lock mechanism in the Aisey-et-Richecourt section. Remnants of the old barrel with several small loops are present.

From the course of the river, the municipal area extends westward over the valley floodplain to the adjoining terrace of Aisey and into the Bazeuille valley system with its side stream Ruisseau des Vaux . The northern end is formed by the wooded heights of the Bois Saint-Julien , on which the highest point of Aisey-et-Richecourt is reached at 317 m. To the west, the municipality extends to the foothills of the Donnet ridge (up to 290 m). From a geological and tectonic point of view, the terrain consists of alternating layers of sandy-marl and calcareous sediments, which were mainly deposited during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ). In some places shell limestone from the Triassic comes to light.

The double community consists of the main town Aisey (258 m) on the terrace west of the Saône and the hamlet of Richecourt (220 m) in the Saône lowlands. Neighboring communities of Aisey-et-Richecourt are Bourbévelle , Corre and Ranzevelle in the north, Ormoy in the east, Betaucourt in the south and Villars-le-Pautel in the west.

history

Aisey is mentioned for the first time in 1172, Richecourt as early as 1150. In the Middle Ages, both villages belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and within it to the area of the Bailliage d'Amont . Richecourt formed its own rule since 1290. Together with Franche-Comté , both villages came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. Aisey and Richecourt have been united as a dual community since the time of the French Revolution . With the inauguration of the railway line from Jussey to Épinal in 1886, Aisey was connected to the French railway network. Passenger traffic was discontinued in 1944, freight traffic from 1951. Today Aisey-et-Richecourt is a member of the community association Communauté de communes du Pays Jusséen, which comprises 17 villages .

With 107 inhabitants (January 1, 2017), Aisey-et-Richecourt is one of the small communities in the Haute-Saône department. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (369 people were still counted in 1886), only slight fluctuations have been recorded since the beginning of the 1970s.

Economy and Infrastructure

Until well into the 20th century, Aisey-et-Richecourt was primarily a village characterized by agriculture (arable farming, viticulture and cattle breeding) and forestry. The Saône's hydropower was previously used to power mills. Today there are some local small businesses. In the last few decades the village has transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.

The place is off the major thoroughfares on a department road that leads from Jussey to Corre. Further road connections exist with Ormoy and Villars-le-Pautel.
