Boursières is a municipality in the French department of Haute-Saône in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Boursières is located at an altitude of 216 m above sea level, about nine kilometers west-southwest of Vesoul (as the crow flies). The village extends in the central part of the department, in the valley of the Baignotte, at the western foot of the heights that rise between the river valleys of Saône and Ognon .
The area of the 2.28 km² municipal area includes a section in the area of the upper Saône basin. The eastern border runs along the Baignotte, which flows with several turns through a valley to the north to the Durgeon . From the course of the river, the community area extends westward over a slope that is subdivided by several side valleys of the Baignotte, to the adjacent plateau. This plateau consists of tertiary sediments . Agricultural use predominates here, but there are also some forest areas. At 266 m, the highest point in Boursières is reached on the heights of Mont Vallery.
Neighboring communities of Boursières are Pontcey in the north, Chariez and Velle-le-Châtel in the east, Clans in the south and Aroz in the west.
history
In the Middle Ages, Boursières belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in that part of the Bailliage d'Amont . The local rulership was held by the lords of Beaujeu and later by the Pusel family. Together with Franche-Comté , the village finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. In 1789 the mansion was destroyed in the course of the French Revolution. Today Boursières is a member of the community association Communauté de communes des Combes, which comprises 22 localities . Boursières does not have its own church; it belongs to the parish of Velle-le-Châtel.

With 57 inhabitants (January 1, 2017), Boursières is one of the smallest communes in the Haute-Saône department. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (in 1911 there were still 133 people), a slight population growth has been recorded again since 1999.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Boursières was a village dominated by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding). Outside of the primary sector there are few jobs in town. In the last few decades the village has transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who go to work in the Vesoul agglomeration.
The place is off the major thoroughfares on a department road that leads from Vesoul to Fresne-Saint-Mamès . Another road connection is with Aroz.
