Nephepeltia is a genus of dragonflies consisting of six species. The genus belongs to the subfamily Brachydiplacinae and wasdescribedby Calvert in 1889 . A dragonfly previously known as Libellula phryne servedas the generotype . The distribution area extends from Panama to Perú and Brazil .
features
Nephepeltia species are small dragonflies and reach lengths between 19 and 28 millimeters. The abdomen is black with yellow markings on the first seven segments. The chest ( thorax ) is very dark on the top and turns into a blackish metallic blue on the sides. Their face is white and their complex eyes are turquoise in adult males. Their wings are mostly transparent. Sometimes they are amber at the base. The last Antenodalader in the front wing is complete, so it extends from the Costa to the Radiusader .
