Brachydiplacinae denotes a subfamily of libellulidae (Libellulidae) within the vial . It contains 25 genres and was established in 1940 by Tillyard and Fraser . The assignment of the 25 genera to the subfamily is partly controversial. For example, Allen Davies assumes that many of the genera are unrelated. Their distribution extends over Africa , eastern Asia , Australia and America .

features

The species of the subfamily Brachydiplacinae are mostly of very small to medium size. The wing veins are very original in representatives of this subfamily. Only the arculus is between the anterodal veins 1 and 2 and the wing triangle in the hind wing is arranged distal to the arculus. There is also a small anal loop in the wing.

Systematics

In addition to the eponymous type genus of Brachydiplax , the Brachydiplacinae contain representatives of another 25 genera.
