The Edonis helena is the only dragonfly species of the genus Edonis from the subfamily Brachydiplacinae . Their distribution area extends over a small area of northeastern Argentina to neighboring southern Brazil . Both their habitat and their larvae are unknown.
Construction of the Imago
The animals reach a length of 29.3 to 32 millimeters, which makes them comparatively small. The abdomen ( abdomen ) and the chest ( thorax ) are brown. The wings are transparent except for the basal half of the hind wings. The last Antenodalader in the front wing is complete, so it extends from the Costa to the Radiusader .
Similar species
The species is very similar to the species of the genus Nephepeltia , but can be distinguished from them by the greatly broadened wing base.
