Edouard Belin
Claude Joseph Édouard Belin (born March 5, 1876 in Vesoul , † March 4, 1963 in Montreux ) was a French inventor .
In 1907, Belin developed a process for picture telegraphy , which is considered the forerunner of fax machines . The first image transmission took place in the same year on the Paris - Lyon - Bordeaux - Paris route , the first wireless transatlantic transmission in 1921 on the Annapolis (Maryland) - La Malmaison route .
Belin was from 1951 Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor and from 1937 to 1952 President of the Société française de photographie .
