Transatlantic

Transatlantic originally means beyond the Atlantic located , or overseas within the meaning of the relationship Europe and Africa to North and South America .

Due to the political development since around 1850 , the term has condensed in linguistic usage to the relations between Europe and North America (especially with the USA ), while at the same time the independence movements in Central and South America have loosened the ties of the former colonies to the Spanish motherland.
