The Pampeloponnisiako Stadium ( Greek Παμπελοποννησιακό Στάδιο , total Peloponnese Stadium), formerly the Patras National Stadium , is the largest sports facility in Patras and the whole of the Peloponnese with a capacity of 23,588 spectators . The stadium is located in the southern district of Patras .

history

The stadium was built in 1981 . Because of the Olympic football tournaments of the 2004 Summer Olympics , modernization and expansion measures were decided. The construction measures, which cost € 30,000,000, included the expansion of the western grandstand, a roof over the main grandstand, the installation of new seat shells, modernization of the interior, a new floodlight system as well as further modernization of the stadium technology. The official handover of the stadium was on March 28, 2004 at the cup final of the regional amateur league.

During the Olympic Games, the stadium was the venue for a total of six men's games (five preliminary round games and one quarter-final game). In addition to two other preliminary round games, a preliminary round and the quarter-finals of the German women's national team took place at the women's tournament .

The stadium has a tartan track and is therefore suitable for athletics competitions. In 2005 , the final of the Greek Club Cup was held in Pampeloponnisiako.

architecture

The stadium has an upper tier in the area of the main grandstand and at the transitions to the rear gate curves. A possible further expansion of the stadium was taken into account in the design. If an upper tier is built in the area of the opposite stand in the future, the stadium capacity would increase by another 6,500 seats.
