The 2001/02 UEFA Women's Cup was the first ever European championship competition for women's football clubs . The first winner was the German champions 1. FFC Frankfurt, who prevailed with a 2-0 win against the Swedish champions Umeå IK. The representatives from Switzerland and Austria were eliminated in the first round.

Preliminary round

The participants were divided into eight groups. One team of the group organized the tournament. The eight group winners reach the quarter-finals.
