North China (Huabei)

Huabei ( Chinese  華北  /  华北 , Pinyin Huáběi , short for: 華北 地區  /  华北 地区 , Huáběi Dìqū  - "North China Region") is the Chinese name for the region of North China or North China Region .

It comprises the following administrative units at the provincial level:

  1. Inner Mongolia (Nèi Měnggǔ)
  2. Shanxi (Shānxī)
  3. Beijing (Běijīng)
  4. Tianjin (Tiānjīn)
  5. Hebei (Héběi)

The Huabei region must not be confused with the traditional, not precisely defined term “ Northern China ” ( 中國 北方  /  中国 北方 , Zhōngguó Bĕifāng ) as a contrast to “Southern China” ( 中國 南方  /  中国 南方 , Zhōngguó Nánfāng ) - see Northern China and Southern China .
