Regions of China (including Taiwan)

Today's China is divided into six regions . These regions are not political or administrative units, they are used for statistics and planning. The highest sub-national administrative level is that of the provinces.

Northwest China Xiběi 西北 Gansu , Ningxia , Qinghai , Shaanxi , Xinjiang
1)Administrative units at the provincial level: provinces, autonomous regions , cities immediately after the government , special administrative areas
2)Taiwan is claimed but not controlled by the PRC ; likewise the Matsu and Kinmen archipelagos in Fujian Province.
3)The area of ​​the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh claimed by the PRC is shown in lighter color
