versatility
Unlike in Stockholm , eventing was no longer restricted to officers. A test for soldier horses thus turned into a difficult practical test for hunting horses. 25 participants from eight nations took part.
Eventing was organized without a dressage test. The three-part exam lasted five days and consisted of:
- Distance ride over 50 kilometers, consisting of 45 kilometers on roads and paths, 5 kilometers cross-country with 18 natural, fixed jumps up to 1.15 meters in height. This stretch could be covered in three and a half hours.
- After a day of rest, there was a street gallop over 20 kilometers, which was followed by a 4000 meter racetrack gallop. The latter had to be mastered at a speed of 550 m / min.
- After the next day of rest, there was hunting jumping with obstacles up to 1.25 m high.
