2008 Summer Olympics / Riding
At the Olympic Summer Games in Beijing in 2008 , six decisions were made in equestrian competitions, one individual and one team competition in show jumping , dressage and eventing . The competitions were held at the Hong Kong Equestrian Center.
dressage
A total of 50 riders and horses were allowed to compete in the dressage competition. Three riders per nation were allowed, whose scores were included in the team score. The medal winners of the team competition at the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen were qualified as teams . In addition, there were the medal winners from the 2007 European Championship, the two best-placed teams from the 2007 Pan-American Championships, and the two best-placed teams from the rest of the continents. If the medal winners of the World Equestrian Games also landed on the placements in the continental eliminations that meant the Olympic qualification, the next-placed teams moved up. The remaining 20 places were given to individual starters, one of which went to China if the team was not qualified. The other individual starters were determined on the basis of the world rankings; in exceptional cases, an invitation by the IOC was possible. For a nation whose team had not qualified, a maximum of two individual starters were allowed to compete.
singles
The individual evaluation was decided on the basis of the arithmetic mean of the results of the Grand Prix Spécial and Grand Prix Freestyle .

Hints:
- Three or four riders per country competed in two rounds.
- The best three results of each team were evaluated per round. Deletion results are marked with a hash sign (#). The total number of error points resulted from the addition of the remaining error points.
- Since the USA and Canada had the same number of fault points after two rounds, a jump-off took place. Canada had one drop in the first round of the jump-off (4 fault points) and so the USA secured victory with three zero-error rides.
