Edwina Tops-Alexander (born March 29, 1974 in Sydney ) is an Australian show jumper .

life and career

Edwina Alexander is currently the only Australian who can be found among the world's best in show jumping.

Alexander started riding at the age of eight and won the Australian championship as a young rider. This was followed by starts at the first world cup tournaments in Australia. In order to gain further experience, she went to Europe for a six-month stay. However, she stayed permanently in Europe and continued her career as a show jumper here.

Her greatest success was reaching the finals with changing horses at the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen , where she came fourth. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Hong Kong , she was ninth both with the team and in the individual.

Edwina Alexander holds a bachelor's degree in Physical Education from the Australian College of Physical Education. From 2002 she was in a relationship with Jan Tops , the marriage took place on September 24, 2011. On July 30, 2017, their daughter was born. The family lives in Valkenswaard and Monaco.

From April 2014 she was the captain of the Australian show jumping team and was then nominated as the first member for the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen . At the 2016 Olympic Games , she was again ninth in the individual ranking, here she rode Lintea Tequila .

As Jan Tops' wife, Edwina Tops-Alexander's season planning always focuses on the Global Champions Tour and the Global Champions League. In 2018 she renounced both participation in the World Cup finals in Paris and a nomination for the World Equestrian Games in North Carolina.

In February 2013 she was in fourth place in the world rankings.
