The Gothenburg Horse Show is a major international equestrian sports - show that since 1977 every spring in Gothenburg , Sweden is held. The tournament will be held regularly at the end of February; the tournament will be postponed to April for the World Cup finals.

history

The tournament was initiated by the Swedish industrialist and former CEO of Volvo Pehr G. Gyllenhammar, among others. With the income from the early years, the Scandinavium , a multifunctional indoor stadium in which ice hockey is also played, was built. Since then the tournament has been held in the Scandinavium. In 2006, a new record was set for the four-day event with 82,593 visitors. By 2013, the competitions had attracted a total of 2.5 million visitors.

Leap

The Göteborg Horse Show has been part of the FEI Show Jumping World Cup since 1978 . The first World Cup final was held here in 1979. The World Cup final took place in 1979, 1982, 1984, 1986, 1988, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2008, 2013 and 2016 as part of the Göteborg Horse Show.

In 2011, the Swedish Angelica Augustsson surprisingly achieved her first World Cup victory on the mare Mic Mac du Tillard, to the delight of the local fans, in front of well-known riders like Ludger Beerbaum . For the 40th anniversary in 2016, the Gothenburg Horse Show hosted the World Cup final in show jumping again. The 2015/2016 World Cup was won by Steve Guerdat with his horse Corbinian .

dressage

In 1989, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2003, 2013 and 2016 , the World Cup finals in dressage were held as part of the Gothenburg Horse Show.

In 1998 Louise Nathhorst won the World Cup Final in Gothenburg with On Top Walk .

Drive

The four- in-hand World Cup final was held at the Göteborg Horse Show in 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2017. Michael Freund won the Scandinavium World Cup final in 2007. In the same year Christoph Sandmann reached third place in the World Cup final.
