Jan Tops
Johannes ("Jan") Augustinus Petrus Tops (born April 5, 1961 in Valkenswaard ) is a former Dutch show jumper and now a show jumping horse dealer.
Career
Tops competed in more than 50 nations' cups for his country, rode at European championships, world championships and the Olympic Games.
Jan Tops is considered one of the most powerful men in the international horse trade . In 2006 he launched the Global Champions Tour , the Grand Prix of the individual stages of which are endowed with at least 285,000 euros.
Today's world class riders Rolf-Göran Bengtsson , Steve Guerdat and Daniel Deußer rode at Tops at the beginning of their careers.
Olympic games
In 1988, 1992, 1996 and 2000 Tops started in four consecutive Olympics for his home country. In 1992 he won team gold with Top Gun together with Jos Lansink , Piet Raijmakers and Bert Romp at the Olympic Games in Barcelona . With Emile Hendrix instead of Bert Romp, the team had already won gold at the 1991 European Championships.
In the individual ranking of the Olympic Games, he finished seventh with Doreen in 1988 , fifth with Top Gun in 1992 and seventh with Top Gun in 1996 . In 2000 he took part in the Olympic Games with Roofs for the last time.
Private life
He has a daughter born in 1997 with the Canadian show jumper Tani Zeidler . From 2002 he was in a relationship with the Australian show jumper Edwina Alexander , the marriage took place on September 24, 2011.
